i wasnt meaning to continue on with the cover song theme but i just couldn’t help it. When I logged onto youtube, this video was waiting for me under my subscription to the fabulous Jamie Cullum, and boy was i glad. Not only is Mr. Cullum’s cover mind-blowingly awesome, the video for it adds a certain James Bond (exploding piano FTW!) like charm to the entire experience. It’s rare for me to actually watch a music video especially all the way through not because i don’t enjoy the artistic quality of it but cuz i prefer to listen to music as a stand-alone. However, this music video just drew me in. The mesmerizing close ups of the inner works accompanied by the soothing yet edgy voice of Jamie is just indescribable so i urge everyone to go take a gander. enjoy.

So I got turned onto the band Mae because of my first love, Stephanie. Actually, she turned me onto a ton of awesome music and changed my life forever but that would be beside the point of this blog. Anyways, I started listening to Mae in high school and I’ve grown to really love them (their old stuff anyways…their new¬† stuff isn’t as good). The song that I really fell in love with is a song called Tisbury Lane. The first time I heard it was at Stephanie’s place. I forget exactly why I was there but I remember that it was morning and I was waiting for her to get ready so we could go somewhere. She always loved listening to music while she was getting ready, and she played this one and started singing along with it. Somehow, right then and there it turned into one of the most awesome moments that Stephanie and I shared…although I doubt she remembers LOL (she’s kinda forgetful about stuff like that now a days). The song playing softly on Stephanie’s ghetto sound system in her messy room just…for the lack of a better cliche…completed the moment. So there it is. Tisbury Lane by Mae. Go listen to it, preferably on a drizzly morning with someone you care about. I promise it’ll be nice. Happy Listening then.

This is a pretty good album although I suggest checking out Destination: Beautiful which is their best album in my opinion

Mmkay so here it is.

Lovefool by The Cardigans

This poppy, indie song by the Swedish band, The Cardigans is simply amazing. I first came across this song when I was looking for good love songs to put on a mix cd I was making for a girl, but that’s a whole other story. This song captured my attention immediately. If I remember correctly, I felt like I’d heard it before somewhere in passing, and it’s familiarity only added to the incredibly sweet and sexy charm of Nina Persson’s (the lead singer) voice.

I can’t stand to be silent when I’m driving. So most of the times, I’ll have a CD in the stereo and sing along at the top of my lungs usually, and whenever this song comes on (track 3 I believe in the mix cd I made for that girl…I kept a copy too). I try to sing along with it too cuz it’s so damn catchy, especially the chorus. It’s not a pretty sight as I try to hit those high notes with my awkward falsetto but it’s hell of a lot of fun and you can’t help but feel happy listening to this song. so I say give it a go. Pop it into your stereo and sing along. Happy singing!

(Lyrics)
Dear, I fear we’re facing a problem
you love me no longer, I know
and maybe there is nothing that I can do
to make you do

Mama tells me I shouldn’t bother
that I ought to stick to another man
a man that surely deserves me
but I think you do!

So I cry, I pray and I beg

Love me love me
say that you love me
fool me fool me
go on and fool me
love me love me
pretend that you love me
leave me leave me
just say that you need me
Love me love me
say that you love me
leave me leave me
just say that you need me
I can’t care ’bout anything but you…

Lately I have desperately pondered,
spent my nights awake and I wonder
what I could have done in another way
to make you stay
Reason will not lead to solution
I will end up lost in confusion
I don’t care if you really care
as long as you don’t go
